Benign prostatic hyperplasia

Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is a condition where the prostate gland becomes enlarged. BPH can block the flow of urine from the bladder, causing infections of the urinary tract and discomfort during urination.

If you do have BPH, our specialists will work with you to resolve your symptoms and restore your prostate health.

Erectile dysfunction (ED)

More than 30 million men in the U.S. experience ED, which is the inability to get or maintain an erection. ED can usually be treated with medication. However, it can sometimes be a symptom of an underlying condition, such as a testosterone deficiency. That means it's important to have a conversation with your doctor if you have symptoms of ED.

We understand that conversation may not be easy. ED is a condition that can affect your confidence and be uncomfortable to discuss. That's why our urologists are sensitive to your feelings and take the time to listen to you to determine the root cause of your ED. By understanding the cause of ED, we can suggest the most appropriate treatment to restore your health and confidence.

Kidney stones

A kidney stone is made of materials, such as protein and minerals, that are found in urine. These stones pass through the urinary tract and can become lodged, causing extreme pain and discomfort.

Kidney stones vary in size. The size of your kidney stone will help us determine which treatment will resolve your symptoms and help you pass the stone(s).

Pelvic organ prolapse

Pelvic organ prolapse refers to a condition in which the muscles and tissues in the pelvic area become weak, no longer fully supporting the pelvic organs. This can be caused by a variety of health issues, such as pregnancy and childbirth, obesity and chronic cough.

We offer a wide range of treatments for pelvic organ prolapse, depending on the organ(s) affected. Often, our specialists are able to correct prolapse with minimally invasive techniques.

Prolapse can occur in men and women, but it is more common in women. For this reason, we also offer female pelvic organ prolapse treatment through our gynecology program.

Prostate cancer

Prostate cancer occurs in men when cancer cells are present in the prostate gland, which is located between the bladder and penis. This gland is responsible for producing fluids that support the nourishment and transportation of sperm, and the urethra runs through the middle of it.

If prostate cancer is detected, our hospitals provide comprehensive cancer care. This includes advanced treatments and support resources to help you throughout your journey — from diagnosis and treatment through survivorship.

Prostate cancer screening

In its early stages, prostate cancer often presents no symptoms. This is why prostate cancer screening is an important step to maintaining your prostate health. With prostate cancer screening, we can detect the disease when the cancer is in its early stages and more easily treated.

Prostate cancer screening options we offer include a digital rectal exam (DRE) and prostate-specific antigen (PSA) test. The prostate cancer screening guidelines of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) suggest men of average risk begin discussing annual screenings with their provider at 55 years old. However, we recommend men talk with their doctor about their individual risk factors for prostate cancer and when they should begin screenings.

Testosterone deficiency

Testosterone deficiency occurs when your body does not produce enough testosterone. Although more common in men, a testosterone deficiency can occur in both men and women.

Common symptoms of this condition include:

Difficulty concentrating
Increase in body fat
Loss of bone density
Negative changes in cholesterol
Reduced libido

Urinary incontinence

Urinary incontinence is the involuntary or accidental loss of urine. If you experience urinary incontinence, our specialists can evaluate your symptoms and provide individualized recommendations. We understand how incontinence can limit your activities, and we will work with you to quickly and effectively restore your quality of life.

Urinary tract infection (UTI)

A UTI can occur in men or women and may impact any part of the urinary tract. Although many UTIs are harmless, the infection can become serious if it spreads to the kidneys and is left untreated.

Our specialists provide a range of treatment for patients experiencing UTIs, helping to resolve the infection and prevent it from worsening.

Cystocele repair — bladder prolapse treatment
Hormone therapy — administration of specific hormones to treat select conditions
Lymphadenectomy — removal of one or more lymph nodes
Nephrectomy — surgical removal of a kidney
Prostatectomy — surgical removal of the prostate
Pyeloplasty — surgical reconstruction of the renal pelvis
Rectocele repair — treatment to strengthen the tissue wall between the rectum and vagina
Renal cyst decortication — removal of the surface layer of the kidney affected by cyst(s)
Renal cyst excision — removal of cyst(s) on the kidney
Sacral nerve stimulation — bladder treatment using gentle electric stimulation of the sacral nerves
Ureteral implantation — surgery of the tubes that connect the bladder to the kidneys
Ureterectomy — full or partial removal of the ureter
Ureterolithotomy — removal of stones from the ureter
Urethroplasty — removal of scar tissue on the ureter
Vasectomy — surgical sterilization for men
Vasovasostomy — partial vasectomy reversal

Minimally invasive urologic surgery

When surgery is necessary to treat a urologic condition, we use minimally invasive surgical techniques whenever possible. Minimally invasive surgery, such as robotic surgery or laparoscopy, requires surgeons to make only a few small incisions. Because of this, patients often experience faster recoveries, less postoperative pain and less scarring.
